Tannery Chemicals

A natural soluble dedusted extract. It is uniform in quality (minimum tannin content of 66%), light in colour, easily soluble in water, but best dissolved in warm water using mechanical means such as stirring or drumming. Mimosa ME powder (also sold under our Osprey brand) can be used for all types of leather, in pits, drums or tanning machines.

A specially treated dedusted Mimosa powder, giving leather a golden colour; otherwise the same properties as ME Brand. When used in colouring pits it gives the grain a more yellow colour.

This is a lighter coloured Mimosa (Wattle) Extract compared to the standard ME brand. The special bleaching process gives no increase in inorganic salts. The low salt content makes Mimosa MS ideal for closed pit tanning operations but will also give all the good filling/firmness properties of standard Mimosa Extract and is hence also fine for drum tanning processes where lighter coloured veg leather is required.

An exceptionally light coloured, dedusted Mimosa powder, specially treated by chemical means to produce less astringency, high solubility and improved lightfastness. It is suitable for the tannage of hides and skins where very rapid tannin penetration and light colour is required, with the benefit of smooth grain. It is ideal for combination tannages and retannage of chrome leathers. It is recommended for the Mimosa-Aluminium Process for production of chrome free leather.

This is a combination of a modified Mimosa (Wattle) Extract and a chrome salt to give a water soluble veg/chrome powder ideal for water proofing processes and for retannages requiring fullness and softness. The leather has good light fastness and has improved buffing properties.

A light coloured dedusted Mimosa powder which has been resinified to produce extra filling properties on vegetable and chrome retanned leathers. It gives a firmerretan leather with fuller flanks and tighter break. It is recommended for drum tannages or retannages of vegetable and chrome leathers where pale coloured/better filled leather is required. Increased yield is possible when some Mimosa RG is used in sole leather filling operations.

Similar in properties to Mimosa RG but Mimosa RN has a natural yellow/brown colour.

This is a darker coloured Mimosa (Wattle) Extract compared to the standard ME brand. The low salt content of Mimosa DK will give all the good filling/firmness properties of standard Mimosa Extract in vegetable tanning processes where dark-coloured leather is required.

A very light coloured, dedusted powder produced from specially selected fresh bark. The extract solution is also chemically treated to lighten the colour. Leather tanned with Mimosa GS has a very light colour. It is recommended for vegetable leather tannages and retannages of chrome leather where a particularly pale shade is required.

A low astringent extract with good light fast properties ideal for the manufacture of upholstery and automotive leathers.
